There are plenty. From the leisurely Lagundo Waalweg trail to alpine hikes and mountain tours, you’ll find a variety of trails around Lagundo to suit every fitness level. We’ve compiled our personal favourite tours on the page Hiking with your dog .
Every season has its own charm. However, we especially recommend spring and autumn. During these seasons, the temperatures are pleasant for both people and dogs, many hiking trails are wonderfully quiet, and even towns like Merano aren’t too crowded, making them easy to explore at a leisurely pace.
In spring, the apple blossoms in the Merano region, plenty of sunshine, and already mild temperatures are a delight; in autumn, golden forests and the Törggele season await. But winter has its own charm as well: we love the snow-covered hiking trails in the mountains, the crisp mountain air, and the secluded irrigation channels during this season.
Yes. With many walking trails in the valley, sunny irrigation canal paths, and snow-covered hikes at higher elevations, Lagundo is a wonderful destination for both people and dogs, even in winter.
We'd be happy to. Together with experienced dog trainers, we offer Minddog® training and species-appropriate activities involving hunting simulation techniques right here at the Gapphof. Feel free to ask us about private training sessions before your arrival or when you get here.
In collaboration with the Merano veterinary clinic and a veterinary physical therapist, we offer health services and checkups for dogs right on our farm by appointment.
In case of an emergency, we work with veterinarians we trust and the Merano animal hospital. We’re happy to provide you with quick and uncomplicated help.
Dogs are allowed on public transportation in South Tyrol. Please note that dogs must be kept on a leash and wear a muzzle on all public transportation. In addition, a separate ticket must be purchased for dogs, as the Südtirol Guest Pass is not valid for dogs. Only dogs that can be carried in a bag or crate suitable for transporting animals ride for free. You can borrow a dog carrier or backpack from us free of charge for transporting your dog on public transportation. You can find all the information about traveling with pets on public transportation here.
Dogs are allowed on the cable cars. Dogs are even allowed on the infamous Lagundo basket lift. Here, too, dogs must be on a leash and wear a muzzle.
All inns and restaurants around Lagundo welcome dogs. Dogs are also welcome guests at the alpine pastures - though sometimes they may only be allowed on the terrace. We’d be happy to share our personal favourite spots with you when you’re here.
